“To become immortal…and then die” — taken from the film Breathless
Since the first time any of us has seen an animated cartoon or a comic book I think we’ve all wondered what it would be like to actually be a cartoon character. We’ve wondered what it would be like to live in a two-dimensional world and do anything that could imagine. I also don’t think this wonder stops once we’re no longer children. I believe even when we’re adults (if we’re being completely honest) we wonder what it’s like to be a cartoon.
Unfortunately we all cannot have an animated series or comic series based on our life, but we can all be immortalized in a cartoon form. What I want to share with you is how to create that feeling for people.
My name is Dominic Sedillo and I am a dynamic visual storyteller (which is a fancier and more interesting way of saying that I’m an illustrator). I’ve been a professional, career visual storyteller for over a decade, as well as been a life-long pursuer illustration since I was knee-high to a duck.
Join me here often and I will share tips on how to be a dynamic visual storyteller and create that feeling of wonder for people by immortalizing them as a cartoon.
